Light & Rand to deliver lunch keynote at marketing conference

Steven Light and Kathryn Rand are the luncheon keynote speakers at Raving's 12th Indian Gaming National Marketing Conference on September 29, 2009, at the Tulalip Resort Casino in Tulalip, Washington.  Their presentation, "What Marketing Professionals Need to Know About the Story of Indian Gaming," provides an informative and engaging account of Indian gaming's unique story.

The most recent installment of “Indian Gaming Today: Law and Politics” in the Winter 2007 issue of Casino Lawyer discusses recent developments in the law and politics of Indian gaming in Wisconsin.

Rand and Light invited to participate in Boisi Center conference:

Kathryn R.L. Rand and Steven Andrew Light have been invited to participate in a national conference sponsored by Boston College’s Boisi Center for Religion and American Public Life. The conference, titled “Gambling and the American Moral Landscape,” is a landmark interdisciplinary project on the moral dimensions of gambling in the U.S. and will bring together distinguished scholars from diverse fields of study. Conference participants include scholars from Yale, Harvard, Duke, the University of Pennsylvania, and the University of Chicago.

Rand appears on “Justice Talking”

Kathryn R.L. Rand was interviewed by “Justice Talking” host Margot Adler for an upcoming show on casino gambling aired on March 5. “Justice Talking” is produced by the Annenberg Public Policy Center, a think tank at the University of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg School for Communication. The program is distributed nationally by NPR and also heard on NPR Worldwide, Armed Forces Radio Network, Sirius Satellite Radio and InTouch Networks.

Light and Rand receive University of North Dakota’s “Faculty Scholar” award

In February 2007, Steven Andrew Light and Kathryn R.L. Rand were announced the co-winners of the UND Foundation /McDermott Award for Excellence in Teaching, Research or Creative Activity, and Service, or the “Faculty Scholar” award. The annual award recognizes excellence in all three areas of faculty obligation: teaching, research, and service. This year marks the first time UND has made a joint award.
